The ones you want to do. Don't do something only for your resume.

It is really subject to your interest and what is available. In college, they would have societies on sports, music, dancing, reading, etc. You can join those which you have interested on as long as you have leisure time other than your study.
Also, you can also increase your participation in these societies by joining their organizing committee. It is precious experience for your to gain the experience to organize the activities and establish your people network.
Other than these activities, you can also consider to contribute your time on some voluntary activities in the communities, e.g. working in elderly homes, orphanage, etc.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hi Jose,
Volunteering is always a good extra curricular activity. If there is such a thing, you may try to volunteer in a neighbor hospital or clinic if doctor is a career path that you are interested in.
Else, do something that you have great interest with. As an interviewer for software engineering, I never mind people telling me their activities is about music, reading or being part of the girl scout club. What I always ask is: why are you part of this group? That tells me what really motivate the candidate.
Of course, the closer the extra activity relates to the career the better because it may prove you have experience but it really does not have to.

Hello! When I was in high school and college, I liked joining as many extra curricular activities as possible. It allowed me to make friends both within my field of study and with others who shared common interests. There are a few ways you can go about thinking of this:
1) career-wise / resume building -- it looks good on a resume to show that you are involved in programs. This can be with experiences / learning within your major, by holding leadership roles within any club, and with volunteer work for the community.
2) your interests -- Majoring in a medical field, but love theater? Join the theater club and you can have a good way to enjoy your time outside of class, creating a network of people outside of your studies. College is a great time in life to meet and connect with people from all different backgrounds and interests. Making time for this kind of club can provide a needed stress-relief for an hour each week to get away from the pressure of assignments.
Don't forget that clubs are entirely optional! It is important to prioritize classwork / grades or other internships / jobs. So have fun joining these clubs, but try to remember not spread yourself too thin. Hope this helps!

First and foremost, I would say that you should do extracurricular activities that you enjoy or that interest you! When you do things that make you happy, you are naturally going to be a better teammate and strive to do your best with them.
Secondly, I would say choose activities that will broaden your understanding of the world. If you feel like you have very little knowledge about a certain culture, group of people, or lifestyle, join an extracurricular activity that will help round out your knowledge and experiences.
Lastly, I would suggest going for extracurricular activities that will benefit you in your career skills. If you eventually want to get to a position of leadership in your career, having experience in a group/club/organization will be priceless!
