How are companies working to change the gender gap in STEM careers?

I happen to be a male student, but I have noticed that there is a serious lack of women in STEM career paths. I was wondering how companies are working to repair this discrepancy.

It's a huge problem. VMware's Inclusion Council works pretty hard to promote awareness of the lack of women, and ways that unconscious bias continues to push women out of STEM careers. After attending only an hour of training, my eyes have been opened. Simply being aware that the bias exists is a good start for those of us in the field - it's not enough, but a good place to start.

VMware hosted the inaugural Women Transforming Technology conference in Palo Alto earlier this year.
