To become an orthopedic doctor, you must follow a similar education path as other physicians. Earn a bachelor’s degree in the sciences and go to medical school. Following medical school, complete an orthopedic residency; should you choose to specialize, continue training in a fellowship program. Once you are done with the training programs, you must pass the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS) exam to be eligible for licensing. Pass the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensure Examination (COMLEX) to earn your license to practice medicine. These exams evaluate a doctor’s knowledge of their trade. Research the licensing qualifications in the state in which you wish to work.To become an orthopedic doctor, you must follow a similar education path as other physicians. If you are interested in anatomy and movement especially, I recommend looking into physical therapy. Orthopedic surgeons fix broken or arthritic bones and that is about it. After surgery they send them to physical therapy to restore their movement and function. For non-surgical cases, they send patients to physical therapy. In physical therapy, you spend up to 45 minutes each session with the patient analyzing and correcting their movement patterns. Thorough knowledge of anatomy is also very important for arriving at the correct diagnosis in terms of pain origin.

To work as a PT, you need a bachelor's degree plus 3 years of PT school and then sit for licensing exam. Overall 7 years if you are starting from scratch.

You can also choose to do PTA (assistant) which is 2 year associate's degree. PTAs can do all of the treatment that PTs do, but they do not to evaluations. And they need some notes cosigned
