Strong critical thinking and problem solving are fundamental detective skills that you must learn. In every case, there are going to be complex dynamics that need to be analyzed in order to steer the investigation in the right direction. Patience is critical for detectives working difficult, slow-moving cases and when conducting surveillance. Detective must stay current on laws and regulations so that they do not break any rules that may invalidate the investigation.

You seem very specific in your aspirations and goals, so I am hoping that you have already taken some of these steps to meet the criteria.

Are you part of the Junior Citizens Police Academy?

Do you know some of the officers? Maybe one of them would like to be your mentor. Have you spoke with anyone in County Government, how likely are you going to be to get a job in the Miami Gardens Police Department?

What are the county hiring practices? For instance, when you finish training with Miami-Dade County Police Academy, can you choose which local jurisdiction in which your work? Or are you assigned to the precinct that needs or can handle recruits. Then you have to apply to openings internally?

Acquiring a County or Government job can be a long and drawn out process. What is your support system at home? Can you go for long period without income? What is plan B?

After graduation from high school one option may be to become a Reserve Officer. It is an unpaid / position but gives you experience within the department. Check online employment under Miami Gardens police.

Earlier I mentioned plan B. What is your plan B, if this option is too specific? If circumstances change?
