How much do automotive teachers get paid and is it a good career if your original thought was an elementary school teacher..

I'm a senior in high school and I always assumed I was going to be an elementary school teacher but lately I've been considering the automotive industry. I've never been confused about my career but I can't make up my mind and I think it's too late to not know what I will major in. #teaching #mechanical-engineering #automotive

Charles’s Answer

Hello,
Automotive mechanical instructors can make really good money but it depends on the institute in which you are employed.
For instance UTI starts at about 95000 per year and HCC would probably start at around 60.000 per year for their automotive course instructors.
There is a severe shortage in qualified technicians so the chances of making money teaching techs are very high.
Good Luck,

Robert’s Answer

Hi Ismar,

An elementary teacher salary is largely dependent on city and location. For example, a starting elementary teacher in LA can make $50,000, and has the potential to make much more with more experience. What's most important to consider is do you want to teach young kids or young adults, as these are very different groups!

Robert recommends the following next steps:

Talk to an elementary school teacher about their experience. You might start by going back to your elementary school and seeing if there are any of your teachers still there that you can talk to.
