Hi Natalie C,
You asked a big question and I am not sure it will be easy to really drill down if the military is the right move for you. Before exploring this option, take time to assess where you are currently and where you want to be in 5, 10 and 20 years. I recommend you always set personal goals and then game plan how you will get there. If the military is what you want, start doing some research. Military is Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force. There is Active Duty, Guard and Reserves. There is full-time and part-time opportunities and hundreds of different jobs. You can enlist in military service or get a commission through one of the Academies, ROTC, or OCS. I'm not going to spell these out because it will take away some of the research you need to do before you get serious.
If you know what you want to do, go to each of the services and see what they have to offer in those fields. Sometimes they don't match up exactly, but the work will be the same. You want to plan your military career with your personal goals. Remember, when you sign up, you are on a contract too, so make sure you read about that too.
Once you narrow this down, come back and let me know what path you are considering. If you have any more questions, please respond. Have a great day and happy researching.

Hi Natalie,
Well to go into the military, I believe you need to be a citizen. Citizenship is required to anything federal. So make sure you are.
Second: military offers a lot of opportunities. Of course there is being a fighter but there are many other positions. Communication, pilot, spokesperson, ground infantry soldier, parachutist, special operations, police (yes there is a military police), operator, journalist ... For me, the army is a world within the world.
So my first step would be to contact your city hall or visit the American army website to find more about what they can propose and how to enroll there. Because I think the opportunities are so numerous I will not try to give a list here even if I knew it would not be exhaustive, it will still be too long.
Check the federal army website
contact your local city hall
