I want to learn more, but I don't wanna work alone! I need a mentor to help guide me through this journey. #computer-software #computer-science #programming #information-technology

Hi Bianca,
You can do your internship as a developer or as a Quality Analyst / tester or as a Technical Writer or UX Designer or as a DevOps team member. It depends on your area of interest and your educational qualification and skills. You can get Internship in most companies through your University , and in some cases you can even get a credit for doing the same.
If you want focus on programming alone then you can choose to take Java or Javascript or PHP or any other language you prefer to work with in the future.
Hope this helps !
Thanks and Regards

Hi Bianca
I recommend Udacity’s online program. In as little as 3-6 months you can earn an Introduction to Programming Nanodegree like I did. The best part is you do through in a cohort group of students who might be from all over the world. You have a mentor in case you get stuck.

Bianca,
I think it is excellent you are excited to learn about computer programming! Internships can be great for a variety of reasons, but I would recommend starting with learning the essentials prior to jumping on an internship opportunity. Based on your level of experience, there are a plethora of resources out there for free that can help sharpen your coding/programming skills.
This article provides a summary for the top resources of 2017: https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurencebradford/2016/12/08/11-websites-to-learn-to-code-for-free-in-2017/153c716b69c4 . I have used Codecademy.com and highly recommend for its step-by-step instructions and examples provided.
Thanks,
