Love this David. First step is to record yourself singing and get yourself out there online. Find someone who can play guitar if you don't know how and see if you can perform at local events—schools, churches, county fairs, festivals, new business openings. You will need to sing A LOT and tell everyone you know (and everyone they know) that you're a country singer and are looking for more opportunities to perform. Charge everyone. Start really low, even $10 or something. But if you set the expectations that you'll be paid, you'll show up as a professional and only grow from there. Even better, write your own song! Hard, but you'll have to do it if you want to be professional.

Country music is a genre about the experiences and stories of people’s lives. It uses familiar topics and simple melodies. With hard work you can become a country singer. Country music has the good heartfelt ballads about so many things that a human life involves. The artists put on quite a show at their performances and use a variety of sounds when they sing. The biggest common denominator in every country music is the story being told. It describes how the singer feels, in a sound that’s similar to a speaking voice.
Put your own spin on a song to make it your own. For instance, you might break a phrase into a beginning, middle, and end, then decide which of those you might add your own riff or melody to. That way, the song is still recognizable, but it will be unique, as well. Good Luck! David.
