Medical doctors make on average $187,200 a year in the United States. It's an extremely high paying profession. It's also expected to be a growing field as the population continues to get older. However, that doesn't mean that it is a financial slam dunk. Demand for doctors differs somewhat between urban and rural communities, and not every city will have the same need for doctors. That means that nobody can guarantee that you'll be able to find a job or practice to work at. Furthermore, going to college and med school and completing your residency could take you over 12 years. That's a lot of time spent in school, which you're going to have to find a way to pay for. As a result, most medical doctors enter their careers with a significant student loan burden. You'll spend a while paying that off. So again, while it's a high paying job if you get to the finish line, you had better be very determined and have a lot of hustle to finish the marathon. Can you do it?
