Non profit work such as political advocacy or issue oriented. I used to work in Washington DC, and there are plenty of internships and entry level jobs to get you started. Also, I would recommend you join LinkedIn to begin networking with those with similar interests.

In addition to what others have mentioned, above, I wouldn't rule out careers where you would need to be persuasive in-person (such as any management/business professional careers). By being able to be persuasive in writing, you've already mastered the most difficult part of persuasion: understanding your audience and targeting your message to their key interests. Being able to translate that into speaking is a learnable skill!

I would also add copywriter. Writing content for websites especially, something such as animal welfare or social issues you find worthwhile and are passionate about as these require passion and a strong voice as well as fulfilling a real need in society.

An opinionated person with a flare for persuasion could advocate on matters of importance like public policy, healthcare, etc. Consider a career in communications, marketing, nonprofit, government or law. Become a speech writer, copy writer (sales), research writer, legal editor, investigative reporter, op ed writer, etc.

Hi Faith! One option to consider is becoming a speechwriter. You're writing for other people, but you'd be surprised how often you get to advance your own ideas and priorities. It's a real opportunity to help shape a leader's thinking about important issues that are facing the world. And if you're good at being persuasive, all the better. You could write opinion essays for newspapers or magazines. Magazines are always looking for essays with interesting arguments. If you can find a new opinion about a topic that many people are interested in, and then put that opinion into words in an entertaining way, people will want to read you.

Persuasion goes a long way in politics. You want to lead or at least be a big part of the leadership process, and you're in good company. I'd look for work in areas like social media moderation (moderator of posts) or even start a discussion group of your own to encourage community on the web. Outside of that, many people find that writing opinion articles for news is a good way to talk about areas of introspect. You're going to try and elicit responses that will sometimes agree and sometimes disagree with you, unless you position yourself with an organization that shares your deepest beliefs. Sounds like you have a lot to say, specific reasons to say it and don't know how to channel that type of energy, which comes on strong and seems to work well in difficult situations or for others' decision-making processes.
Don't forget to journal for yourself, in a private way to gain introspect when it comes to developing ideas or topics
Ground yourself with the resources to prove your point(s)
Practice respect for those outside your view
Be flexible about other ideas and opinions, but stay on topic
