I hated all the potty accidents. In elementary school, which I teach, if there's an accident you just send them to the nurse and they take care of it.
And the younger the kids, the more they just wear you out. By lunchtime I was exhausted because you're teaching/assisting a teacher with a group of kids that have a ton of energy and when they're all together it's incredibly crazy. It is super fun but I just don't really like playing and preschool is all about play. You have to find your niche, and I found that preschool was not it for me.

The hardest part when it comes to dealing with kids is getting to know each of them personally. So many kids, so many behaviours, patterns & attitudes, and it all comes down to only one teacher with one methodology to handle a group of children.
The key to dealing with children is to connect with them on a personal level. It's not impossible, but it can be tiring and frustrating to some. Teaching, and especially teaching kids is a tough rookie, and isn't for everyone. So take time to reflect if this is what you want to be doing for the rest of your life.

You have to be both the teacher and the student, you learn from each other. I find that the children in my class have a lot to teach me as well as I to teach them. Be patient, kind, and considerate and try not to cut a child off mid sentence. Practice active listening.
