How long does it take to become a Neonatal Nurse

You would have to go through nursing school just like everyone other type, but check around to see if the hospitals you would be interested in hire Associates degree nurses (2 years). Many are starting to only hire Bachelor's (BSN-4 years), so that would be the difference in length of school. Both are RNs, but a lot of facilities prefer you to have the research and management type courses that come with a BSN. Once you pass the board exam and become a nurse, you would find a job working in the NICU, and would have to precept with a nurse before you would be on your own. Each hospital has their own policies on the length, but usually critical care units or ICUs have a bit longer orientation than other types of units.
