I agree with Austin that finding clubs and organizations at your high school will help you find a meaningful internship and help your resume when it comes to choosing the right college for you! Any experiencing handling money, as Austin mentioned, would be extremely beneficial. You can relay your relevant experience to the hiring managers.

I also agree that volunteering outside your high school is another great way to get your 'foot in the door' and gain relevant experience. I would recommend circling back with your professors to see if they can point you in the right direction. Although you may need to start in an unpaid position, the experience that you will gain will provide long-term dividends in the future! Best of luck in your search!!

I think that attending webinars, career panel discussions and other similar events are great ways to learn more about internship opportunities. I am aware that many companies have early talent/leadership development workshops where they discuss more about career pathways and even describe the application process for internships. After attending a session, you may want to reach out to a professional whose career journey interested you to ask them about specific steps they took to be in the position they are now. It would not only be a learning opportunity but also a networking experience.

I recommend getting involved in student groups on-campus to develop leadership skills and experience handling money. Volunteer to be the treasurer of a team/club and you will start to develop the skills to put on your resume that can help get you the internship in a business or finance role.

Also, talk to your friends' parents or family friends and see if their companies are looking for interns. Small companies are a great place to intern, not only because they sometimes are easier to get if you know someone who works there, but you'll also get more experience doing different tasks. If you don't know someone who has any internships at their company, consider volunteering in a financial capacity at a non-profit organization - you'll build the skills you need to get your foot in the door for a financial internship.
