STEM is an acronym for the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Discussion of STEM-related programs has become a presidential priority because too few college students are pursuing degrees in these fields. ... Getting U.S. students interested in studying STEM-related fields is only part of the picture.

Hi Dominick L. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.
In addition to the answers provided on what STEM stands for, I share that what it means to study STEM is an opportunity to train your brain on how to problem solve. Each of those letters S(cience), T(echnology), E(ngineering), M(ath), in my view, all come with a common thread...that is they are all a part of what successful problem solvers use to solve problems and/or to innovate..that is to create something that hadn't been thought of before.
STEM is also incredibly wide and flexible in terms of desired paths, so "to study STEM" is a means to broaden ways of deciding how to build/create/improve one's own life/spaces or that of others.
Hope you find this answer helpful and best of luck to you!

It means that you are studying a program or degree aligned with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I know there is a strong desire to recruit students for jobs in the STEM fields at this time. Lots of amazing opportunities available in STEM.
