I want to be a pharmaceutical chemist, but have heard that there are many different education paths you could take to get there. I am wondering what the smartest path would be, as this could help narrow my college search. #medicine #chemistry #pharmaceuticals #pharmaceutical-industry #medicinal-chemistry

Yes unfortunately PHd is required to be Pharmaceutical Chemist to find a job in pharmaceutical industry, if not you will endup as a tech in lab. Pharmaceutical Chemistry (pharmacology) is a dwindling field - lot of competition coming from low cost environments, not many new innovative products are coming from pharmacology. Most of the research and new products is in the field big molecule (biologics) / BioPharma or immunology / Nero-chemistry, data analytics or material sciences
