Richard’s Answer

Yes! It is absolutely worth it. There are a lot of long hours studying in the library followed by long hours in the hospital, but it is a fulfilling career. There are so many opportunities after medical school... different specialties appeal to different individuals. Or you can follow a nonclinical route in research or even hospital administration.

Farid’s Answer

No doubt to be a doctor needs substantial amount of time and money, the investment can be equal to impossible when someone doesn't have either of these. But somehow its the only profession which pays off really well. Well, not so soon of course! Also when you are a reason of someone getting well or getting healed, is everything, that's where you feel time and money well invested. So I would say yes it's worth it. Again if either time or money is a genuine hurdle, then proper future and career planning should be done to avoid burning out.

Andredell’s Answer

Hi,
I am a Doctor and yes it has been a tremendous sacrifice but it has also had tremendous rewards. I have never thought I was "throwing my life away". I love what I do so it doesn't really seem so sacrificial all the time. My whole family has benefited from my endeavor and education and I have set a great role model for my kids. I had to have help with them during my Training but I was home with them a lot. You have to control your own schedule when you can. Best of luck.

Hi there,
to answer your question is simple as the answer is there in the question itself.
If you really like to help people then it is worth both your time and money because no one would waste time on something that is not worth their time. Being a doctor is one of the most prestigious job. For a person that comes to you for treatment will consider you as their God in front of them coz your curing them of their illness and if you really like to help others then there is no better job in this world other than being a doctor. And if you really be good and sincere in your job then money will be the last thing that you would be thinking about as money follows who follows hard work and determination.
I give you this advise coz my sister who was planning to pursue the same profession as you were had the same thoughts. And when I really showed her the dignity and the respect she would get through this profession , her thoughts was clear as the blue sky.
So my friend I suggest you to please go forward with your decision to be a doctor as it is the best profession for one to pursue , coz there is nothing better than helping your own people.
I wish you all the very best for your future
