Cynthia’s Answer
The years of education needed varies by state. Most require at least two years of college with a AA or AS degree. Some states require a four year degree. All require specific training as a police officer at a government-run police academy, in the military, or as a sworn officer for some other branch of the federal government. The length of training at a police academy also varies. It can be as short as three months, but is more often about six months.

I'm a little surprised by the answer but it looks like an aspiring police officer needs at least a 2 year degree. That is before going to the police academy which is completely separate. I'm going to list a website below that explains in detail what is needed to become a police officer as well as how long the process takes.
