Elie’s Answer

Hi Jaiden!

Although it is not obligatory to have a college degree to work in real estate, it is HIGHLY recommended. The reason behind this is because if you get a degree in business or finance or economics, you will gain a lot of knowledge that can be very helpful if you plan on working in real estate and can allow you to understand how the real estate market works, when is it a good time to sell or buy, how other markets like the financial market and laws and regulations can affect the real estate market.

Also, if you find out that real estate is not really your thing, you will have your degree to fall back on that will allow you to work in other sectors.

My advice to you is to obtain a degree in business, management, finance or economics and try to see if there is a college that offers more real estate courses that you can choose as part of your degree. Then you can get your real estate license and from that point forward, you can determine if real estate is your career, if not, you will at least have your degree to help you find something else!

Good luck!

Brayden’s Answer

Hello!

Depending on the type of real estate the you want to get into, this will determine whether or not college is needed. I would say that for most types a high school degree will work but having a college degree gives you more depth and insight to the world of business. To obtain your real estate licenses you have to pass a series of tests that go over virtually everything that you might encounter as a agent. For selling normal residential real estate I dont see a reason for a college degree because you will do a lot of on the job trainings and will have access to people who can answer your questions. If you are trying to get into more commercial real estates, leasing, and purchasing/ building buildings then I I would suggest the college route. Again I wouldn't say its a requirement by any metic but as I said above, seeing a more in-depth side of business will be a huge advantage for you when you go to close deals.

Hopefully this helps!
