How many hours do Certified Nurse Midwives work on average per year?

I want to become a CNM, but I am wondering how many hours they work yearly. #nurse-midwife

Amanda’s Answer

It depends on the setting. Some midwives work 2-3 12 hour shifts of on call for labor and delivery a week plus 1-2 days of work in the clinic (seeing patients for appointments), others work 1-2 24 hour shifts a week plus 1-2 8 hour clinic shifts. Out of hospital midwives may work a similar schedule or more based on how big their practice is. Hope that helps:)
