Nursing students classes include classroom topics and basic clinical experiences. There may also be the opportunity for specialty clinical experiences depending on the resources of the nursing school and available opportunities. The education outlined below is for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. An Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) will have fewer classes.
Basic / Nursing Classes (some may additional laboratory activity requirements):
*Biology / Microbiology
*Chemistry
*Anatomy and Physiology
*Sociology
*English Composition
*Psychology
*Math
*Human Development
*History / Global History
*Statistics
*Pathology
*Pharmacology
*Health Assessment
* Research
*Adult/Gerontological (elderly) care
*Maternity care
*Pediatric Care (Child and Adolescent)
*Behavioral Health / Psychiatry
*Population Health/US Health Issues/Emergency-Diaster
* Electives (classes you can select that interest you and expand your thinking)
Clinical Experiences:
*Long Term Care (nursing home, rehabilitation centers)
*Acute Care Setting (hospitals settings including different specialties in the hospital)
*Pediatrics
*Maternity
* Ambulatory/Hospice/Clinic/Places outside of the hospital
Specialist Clinical Experiences:
*Perioperative (operating room or other surgical areas)
* Radiology
* Telehealth
* Robotics
* School Nurse
All the best.

Most programs to become an RN include attending college for an associate degree (takes about 2 years to complete) or a bachelor degree (takes about 4 years to complete). Students generally take some courses in science, math, and composition for the first part of college and then start taking the actual nursing courses (including hospital clinical). The nursing courses will cover various specialty areas and teach a wide variety of skills. Some helpful websites include:
