I think there are sort of two tracks you can take through college: a technical track, where you aim to get your degree in that which is the basis of your career (like the sciences or engineering), or the humanities track, where you try to learn as much as you can and become as generally capable as possible. Unless you are looking to teach, the humanities track does not point you directly into one career or another, but leaves you generally capable of doing many things people need done. The communication/statistics/politics/economics skills involved in getting a sociology degree would be helpful in many jobs, doing any of a number of things.
Here's a few suggestions: http://www.sociology.ucla.edu/what-can-i-do-with-my-sociology-major.html
But in general, a degree in sociology maps relatively well to lots of real-world business needs--perhaps not the ones with the highest starting salaries, but real needs nonetheless.

Hi Yocelyn,
I was a Sociology major myself! From experience, most of my friends who majored in sociology will either go on to become academic professionals, teachers, social researcher or they venture into the corporate world, like myself. While there may not be specific roles for sociology graduates, the skills and knowledge that you have learned are highly valued in HR, sales, marketing and even support roles (that is what I'm in right now). Also, there are plenty of government roles for sociology graduates to consider. Of course, if you are looking for a high paying position, you will probably have a higher chance in the corporate world and depending on your interest, you have a wide range of career choices ahead of you!
