Engineering is a very broad field with many specialties. All of them require a good base in mathematics and scientific disciplines. Engineering is much about making useful things, like electronic devices, bridges, buildings, bridges, computer programs, and much more. The useful things are all based upon sound underlying science, which is why science is so important to engineering. The sciences are also very broad, and also require a good base in mathematics and general scientific disciplines. The sciences are much about understanding nature and the principles on which the world works.
Major scientific disciplines like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer and Information Science, Astronomy, Geology-Earth Science, Meteorology, and more, also have specialized areas within them. There are also the Social Sciences that study people and how people relate to each other. Many fields of study there as well. They are all wonderful fields of study. Are you in high school? If you can, elect to take some of these sciences to help you see if you have interest. If you're not sure what you want to concentrate on, then do what you can to sample more than one option, and be sure to get a good base in mathematics. Math is a key tool for all the sciences. I'd also recommend at least some computer study. Computers are also essential tools for scientific study, and learning how to use them will be a great help to you.
If your high school does not offer courses, then there may be beginning online courses offered by colleges or universities that are available for you.

While engineering is a broad field there are a ton of other jobs that fall under the science umbrella. Chemistry, Biology, math, physics and many more are very broad sectors of science that wouldn't be considered engineering. These disciplines all still involve an understanding of how the natural world works and help us better understand why things operate the way they do but dont require the some of the more advanced knowledge thats taught in engineering. In no way would I say engineering is harder than these other fields just the information is different. In the end if you decide you want to pursue a career in the STEM field always ask yourself if its something you truly enjoy and a field that you want to make an impact in.
