What's it like to be a male nurse in a field where women predominate?
I'm considering to start nursing school by fall 2017 and I'm really interested in knowing what challenges I could be facing after graduation. I love helping people; therefore, I think this career path is a good choice for me. I love being challenge on an everyday basis and I can't wait to attend school to learn what it takes to save lives. #nursing #nurse #registered-nurses #hospitals #healthcare #hospital-and-health-care

Hey Enrique!
I think it's great you are asking this question about nursing. Though the field is predominately female, I have tons of male friends who are pursuing nursing! Regardless of your gender, I think your aspirations and passion for helping people will make you successful in this career path! Here are some pieces of advice that I think would be helpful for you:

Although I do not have a great perspective on this, as I am a woman, I do know that the nursing field enjoys having male nurses among the team. There will be times when you are needed for "heavier" jobs and times when male patients will prefer a male nurse for care. The nursing field needs men to optimize care for patients of all types!
