Dylan’s Answer

There are many paths you can take with an accounting degree. For example, public accounting firms, public/private companies, or government. Within these sectors you may focus in audit, tax, or technical accounting. You may also find consulting roles. I completed internships in each of these areas except government.

Jess’s Answer

In my opinion accounting degrees are pretty marketable. There are a wide variety of business related jobs you could get by having an accounting major. One path is to seek employment with a public accounting firm.

Hi Kelsey! As Ivan mentioned, these big firms usually look to hire students right out of college and they are a great place to start your career because they offer a large variety of career options, including audit, tax, and advisory/consulting work. There are also likely some smaller, regional firms in your area that offer the same career options. In addition to public accounting, you could also get a job as an accountant working in the Corporate Accounting division of a company (helping book their monthly journal entries, perform account reconciliations, etc). I've included some suggestions below to help you figure out what your next steps might be.
