Hi Sheniel,

Depending on your university, accounting, finance, and computer science are often some of the most competitive majors within business schools. That being said, the jobs awaiting students with degrees in these fields often reward the hard work and dedication required to earn the degree. Coming out with a business major, career opportunities can range from accountants and financial analysts to technology and consulting. However, there is no rush to decide on a business major until you have acclimated into your first year of business school and decided which courses peaked your interest.

Good luck!
Luke

Within a business school, there are a lot of different fields or concentrations to study. The most popular would be finance, consulting, marketing, and accounting. I would say that finance is the most competitive. Many high-level finance jobs are some of the most lucrative straight out of college, and there are limited spots, thus making it very competitive. The 2nd most competitive field would be consulting, the work-life balance is a lot more generous than finance.

For finance, some of the most popular jobs out of college would be investment banking, corporate banking, commercial banking, and wealth management.
For consulting, some of the most popular jobs out of college would be strategy consulting, tech consulting, and human capital consulting.

There are a wide variety of subject in Business School , e.g. Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, Economics, etc. I really suggest you choose the subject that you have the most interest on rather than considering the most competition subject.

The world keeps changing all the time. The subject has the highest demand today which may be the lowest demand to tomorrow. It takes at least 3-4 years for you to finish an undergraduate degree. It is hardly to predict what is the most competitive after 3-4 years.

If you choose the subject you are most interested on, I believe you would enjoy you university study more. In the future, you work on a career you have interest. Working on a career you have no interest, it is really killing!

Hope this helps!
