Hi McKenzie!
It depends on the things that interest you. As medical field has a wide range of career. Some people choose to be a nurse, doctor who are a surgeon as well because it is okay for them to see blood or or some disgusting things that not all people can take. Like, i have a cousin that since she do not like blood and she is afraid of injections, she pursue being a pharmacist, which is focuses more on drugs and medicines. another example is psychology, it is more on mental health and behaviors of a person. Some people nurse, because they see there selves as god-gifted with talents where they can work with a lot of people and pressure at the same time while assisting patients or possible patients.
Some doctors have 2 or more specialty, like internal medicine and dermatology. i have a uncle wherein he specialized in Allergy & Immunology and Rheumatology.
Some people who are in medical field get some teaching units or finish their masters degree and join the academe to teach and share their knowledge and experiences.
you just need to research and you may list career or program that connects to your likes and interests, it will help you more to choose.
I hope that helps and all the best for you! i know you are going to be amazing :)

My best advice is to volunteer and/or observe in as many different settings as you can! Contact local hospitals, clinics, etc. This will give you an idea of what the job is really like, and also give you the opportunity to talk to professionals who have chosen this career path.

Hi McKenzie,
If you're planning on becoming a physician, during your final year in medical school, you'll have clinical rotations where you're able to get experience in different areas of medicine (Emergency Medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, general surgery, etc.)
What I'd recommend doing right now is job shadowing. I did this when I was in high school and when I was an undergraduate majoring in genetics and pre-med. I shadowed a few different physicians (my family med doc, dermatologist, etc) to figure out which jobs I was interested vs which ones I could cross off my list.
Hope that helps!
