As a young woman preparing to enter the field as a Forensic Chemist, is there any specific obstacles I will face due to gender in this field?

I am a young woman looking into becoming a Forensic Chemist, and I have not researched enough about the topic to know if it was predominantly male or female. So my question here is there any specific obstacles I will face due to gender in this field? Will some situations be tougher to deal with? Or will there even be any advantages or disadvantages to being a woman in the Forensic Chemistry field? #chemistry #forensic

Sam’s Answer

I work in a lab supporting a building of around 50 people and there is one other women. It can be challenging when the men I work with don't know how to react or edit their reactions because I am female. I have settled on ignoring the awkward part of these situations. If they are editing how the react because I am female then they probably should have been editing their reaction around other co-workers. I don't believe this is the best way to handle it, but it has been working for me.

Micheal’s Answer

One's qualifications and ability to meet and supersede Job expectations is the key to fulfill any company's objectives or goals so as long as you meet these requirements which is generic in every organization, I don't think she's going to have any problem irrespective of her gender status.
