How high of a degree would you recommend for Civil Engineering?

I had someone tell me they would recommend a Masters, but I was hoping that a bachelors would be sufficient, but I am looking for some more opinions. #engineering #civil-engineering

DAVID’s Answer

as a general civil engineer a BS and EIT to acquire a future PE license is ok, but if you can, a masters would set you apart to specialize in a very technical field area of structural or soils, or environmental. For me getting a masters right after BS was a big big help to get into a consulting position, plus it earns you a higher salary. If I was hiring I would look for master degree.

Allen’s Answer

I would say a Bachelors is suffice with the EIT to get a PE license is good as well. A Masters is good for an engineering specialization. You may also want to get your Masters in another area like business just to be well rounded.
