How could I find myself working at a place like the Department of Defense or NASA?
Working for either of those two institutions would be a dream come true, especially if I could make it to NASA. I want to contribute to humanity's quest for space travel. #engineering #aerospace #nasa #dod

Jacob:
A degree in engineering, particularly in mechanical, aeronautics or astronautics engineering, would be a great background for gaining employment at NASA.

Visit their website. They may have a process that you can go through to apply for their program. I think DOD and NASA have outreach programs. You can also visit our government website for job opportunities in relation to the public sector.

Hello Jacob,
If you want to work at NASA, my best advice is to make good grades in a STEM field (especially engineering), gain internships in the field or have work experience of some sort, and seek out opportunities for teamwork and leadership via research projects at your school or in student organizations. NASA looks to hire technically competent and strong leaders, with great interpersonal and soft-skills like verbal communication. It's an amazing place to work, and the people who you work with are some of the best in the world and the most passionate about what they do. So aim high, "shoot for the stars" may be cliche but it sounds like it applies to you. Good luck!
