Would getting a Computer Science degree with a minor in business (or double majoring in both subjects) be better than getting an Information Technology Management Degree?

I am interested in the computer science field but I'd like to move up in my field on the business side of technology. I understand that ITS incorporates both computer science and business however I am worried that I won't get as much exposure to Computer Science, which is what I'd like to learn first. #computer-science #business

You can do a lot with the CS degree, but you will need MB from a certain level of management typically beyond director position. This can be replaced bu a lot of experience in the field, but the reality is that whenever a HR department per-qualifies candidates real MB will give you additional points and without this degree you will be filtered out and not even have a chance to be called for an interview to prove your experience.

If your target are smaller companies and start-ups and technical leadership position, your knowledge will be more important including work with open source technologies, volunteering your work in such projects, organizational positions there, etc.

I tell my sons to go get the skill first (in this case computer science) then you can embellish it with business classes.

Knowing the core material makes managing it easier.
