Electrical engineers end up working in many different fields with a basic EE degree. An internship would be an excellent way to confirm the field you think you like - or find out it wasnt quite right before you have made an initial career commitment. Many of the larger companies GE, Honeywell, TE Connectivity and many more offer paid internships. I would apply for these internship programs through the company websites as in the larger companies you will gain exposure to many different fields of electrical engineering. If you have an idea of what you want to do such as circuit design, or power electronics, or hardware design - you could look for companies that employ those types of electrical engineers.

In my opinion it is more about the company and the supervisor at that company than it is the actual job. You should look for companies that have established programs and can offer project work while also being supportive and mentoring
