Nastasha’s Answer

Veterinarians can go down a lot of different paths for providing medical care for pets. Some vets will work in mixed practice (meaning working with large and small animals), large animal only (such as livestock), small animal only (typically cats and dogs), exotics/pocket pets, zoo medicine, etc. Some veterinarians work in general practice, large specialty hospitals, academics (at vet schools), in research facilities, for the government, for the army, etc.

Some will specialize in a certain type of medicine after vet school, which requires additional training. This could be cardiology, surgery, oncology, dermatology, etc.

There are a lot of options for what a veterinarian can choose to do once they finish their degree.
