A great friend of mine who is working as a pharmaceutical research company went so far as to get his MBA while finishing his PhD in biochem.
I happened to get to know him while we both were pursuing our MBA's and asked him the very question.
While working in the field, he quickly determined the only way he could relate, develop the understanding , provide insights, clout, in order to get the business to back his research was to learn the language of business.
Upon graduating, with both a PhD and MBA he was quickly hired, and promoted in less than a year...

Admittedly, I know nothing about Biochemistry but understanding how a business manages its finances, approaches its marketing, runs its HR department, etc... cant be a bad thing. In all likelihood you will encounter "business" in many aspects of your life so having some level of understanding of it will serve you well. Good luck!

A minor in business is a great asset for any degree path you take. It will help teach you the business side of the industry and not just the science aspect. With both under your and the level of degree you wish to obtain "bachelor, masters or doctorite" can help you have to tools to manage the lab or grant money that you may need. When I studied biochemistry I also looked to minor in chemistry, biology , business and communications. There are many minor programs or certifications that are offered. When talking to the counciler ask how the program is set up so that you can plan all the classes out and spread them out over the course of the degree path .
