Does being a sociologist give options on traveling abroad or is it a domestic job?

I would possibly like to travel around the world for a period of time after college. #professor

Hi Rokhaya!

I majored in Sociology, and currently do job placement for a living. I have never seen a job opening for a "Sociologist," at least not for one with a 4-year degree. We definitely have to chart our own course!

To be able to travel, you would want to look at jobs on cruise ships, working for the peace corps (I think it still exists?), the US embassies, teaching English in foreign countries, working for international companies, etc. It would be up to you to show how your degree relates to the position you are seeking, but really and truly, any job that requires people skills is a good job for a Sociologist!

Best of luck!
Kim
