What is the best industry in your opinion for a Chemical Engineer to work in?
I want to know what industry: polymers, paper, dyes, drugs, plastics, fertilizers, foods, petrochemicals..., would be the most fun and interesting one to work on. I'm not looking for which one looks the best in terms of job growth but instead which seems to be the most creative for the individual Chemical Engineer. #chemical-engineering

Each industry can be intriguing and interesting. It matters most what company and role you have. I recommend diversifying your internships and co-ops to maximize your experience. That will show you what you are most interested in doing.
Katie’s Answer
During my co-op with a flexible packaging company, I decided it was important to me to work for a company that produced something that I could easily explain to my friends and families. After graduating, I ended up in Quality and Food Safety in food manufacturing, which has given me the opportunity to work with many of the processes I learned about in school. I enjoy the problem solving aspect of my work that often requires a creative approach.
If you are looking for creative challenges, you may want to consider Research and Development as a future career path. In my past experience, these roles have often been title Process Development Engineers. These types of roles exist across various industries and provide opportunities to use technologies to produce new products.
