Nowadays, big companies like Google, Apple, IBM etc don't look for your degree(not all segments). But you should be exponentially
good in programming. For any job in IT, It is always good to have a four year degree as many companies look for your academic marksheets.
After degree, if you get certification on any software related skills will be an added advantage. So you have an idea about your academics also some added data with it.

I think both the computer science and Software Engineering course can assist you in developing skills for videogame design / videogame programming . I have been working on games and received a Bachelors degree in Software engineering with a focus in Game Development . The best thing about getting a general computer science or software engineering degree is that you can apply the knowledge you've learned far beyond games as well . Software we use daily includes everything from automated robotic systems to app development for your favorite social media platform and of course games .

I think what may help you in your decision is look at the descriptions for both majors, and compare and contrast the subjects taught by each . I feel like Computer science majors and Software Engineering - specific majors will have a lot of overlap but maybe a few different specialized courses.
