Tina’s Answer

To be an attorney in the United States you have to attend an accredited law school and pass the state bar exam. International students who study outside of the United Stated. can apply to take a state bar exam if they meet certain requirements.

Michael’s Answer

There is no particular set of subjects that you need to study to become a lawyer. Most law schools take students with diverse academic backgrounds. For example, I had one law school classmate who majored in philosophy in college and another who majored in physics. It is more important to take classes that you find intellectually stimulating. Having said that, becoming an attorney generally involves a lot of reading and writing. Therefore, I would be sure to take classes where you have to do a lot of analytical writing. For example, history classes where you write a paper analyzing the causes of an historical event would be great. English classes are also great where you write an analytic paper on a passage from a book. Science classes can also be great where you write up the results of a lab. Lastly, math -- particularly if you want to go into business law -- is a great foundation for a legal career.
