Hi Jessica,
This is a very thoughtful question! I cannot speak to all schools but I can speak to the school that I went to that is known for science majors and had an excellent program. Johns Hopkins University (in Baltimore, MD) has a great Undergrad Science Program. It offers an array of science programs but is best known for it's Chemistry and Biological sciences. This may not be an area of interest for you so that may sway your decision!
But it's always a great option to request an alumni contact in your area to meet up for coffee or chat with on the phone to get a better idea of the school. I'm also happy to have a chat if you would find it helpful!
Good luck!

Science is a big category. Do you know a little more about what areas in science interest you? Take a read through this website and jot down which areas sound interesting: https://leverageedu.com/blog/branches-of-science/
What events in your life drew you to ask this question and pursue science? What excites you and motivates you about each of these categories of science? What problems do you want to solve using science? This may help your narrow the types of science you are interested in.
Also you may want to think through... do you want to go to a local college (i.e. in your state) or are you open to going to schools out of state?
Once you think that through, you can go to US News & World Report and run a search on college majors. Here is the website: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/college-majors?int=top_nav_College_Majors
Don't forget, there are lot of other options to consider too... you can go to your school counselor, ask a favorite teacher, chat with a family member or neighbor, or just keeping googling to find more and more detail.
There are dozens (if not hundreds!) of great schools to consider for science. Don't get intimidated though. Start to build your "template" for what you are looking for (i.e. college in your state, has both Biology & Chemistry, is affordable, etc.) and the options will eventually narrow to the right "set" of schools that make sense for you.
Good luck in your search! Let us know how it goes!

Hi Jessica!
Excellent question that honestly has no good answer for. Picking colleges can be really tough because there are so many options and a ton of arbitrary numbers from a bunch of different programs that rate colleges (are those schools really number 1 and what is the difference between a number 1 and number 2 program? Is it even worth the price to attend a top 10 school?). To answer your question, I don't think rank matters too much honestly. School choice really only matters in the realm of research (maybe there's a particular professor you want to work with), school culture (unique to each college), and finally cost (nothing is worse than debt).
I would focus on what schools seem to have the best culture with a decent rank in the major you are looking for (you can find your major rank through a Google search and US News is a pretty decent college ranking). Good luck with your decision! :)
