I would also add to look at Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) schools when you are applying to medical school. My brother-in-law is a DO and I didn't even realize it was a different school. It is still med school but they teach the anatomy differently. (Dr Mike on Youtube has a great explanation) The jobs available and pay are the same out of college.
Thank you!

To become a doctor, you need to get a bachelor's degree. This can be done at any college, and you can do any major you'd like. One thing you have to keep in mind is that you would need to complete the pre-requisites for the medical schools you'd like to apply to. Many students major in the sciences because the requirements you would need to get your degree line up with medical school pre-requisites. To stand out, some individuals get degrees in non-traditional subjects like business or the fine arts. This way, their overall GPA can be higher and they can focus on just working hard for the pre-requisites needed for medical school. The degree you get does not matter. Where you get it from, also does not matter. You just need to get one and you need to do extremely well academically and obtain a well-rounded extracurricular background. After that and after you take your MCAT, you can apply to medical school.
