Your possibility of getting into medical school can not be measured without have your grades or your number(scores) available. If you are in high school, do not get discouraged. You have plenty of time to work on your understanding of science and to develop an appreciation for the basis of medicine. You are in a great position. You are able to notice a weakness. Now it is your job to address that weakness and do everything possible to improve that problem area. If you work hard, find good resources( like khan academy or good books), and find helpful tutors and mentors you will be successful. If you are in college, there are special tutoring programs that can help. Speak to your advisor about improving your application. Improve your shadowing, research, and volunteerism. Be diligent about understanding science better. There is always a way for you to get better and get in to medical school. You may have to go to grad-school first to be a good applicant.

Hi Elizabeth!

Good question! Most pre-med programs tend to require significant amounts of science classes. My undergrad university, with a well known med school, actually used Biology as a weed out for the pre-med program. That's the reason I am not a marine biologist!

I would suggest that you look over pre-med degree programs in course catalogs for the universities that you are interested in attending. That would give you an idea as to which sciences they require. Also look at the med school requirements.

There are other facets of medical careers that may require less focus on the sciences. Talk to your advisor, contact advisors at universities you are interested in and perhaps talk to some doctors. I have no medical experience other than being a patient so I can't talk to other options.

Good Luck!

Jeff
