Are there any classes that a high school student can take in high school that would benefit them if they are thinking of becoming a judge?
I'm a sophomore in high school. I heard that my school has a Criminal Justice class. Would it benefit an individual to take this class if they are thinking of studying law? What other classes can a high school student take to prepare for future? #college-major #law #criminal-justice #justice #highschool #judge

There are lots of special terms in law, many derived from Latin. So if your school offers a Latin Language course, that would be good. Student Council, as mentioned previously, will teach you Robert's Rules of Order, which is good. What is interesting about law (and being a judge) is that every conceivable topic in the world might come before you. For example, a case involving whether or not a roofing company put on the right type of roof for the particular heat, snow, and wind it would be exposed to. So honestly, you want exposure to as many disciplines as possible, to give you at least basic familiarity with science, business, technology, accounting, etc. It all comes before the court, sooner or later!
Also, when you do get to college, I encourage you to take a Logic course!
Best of luck!

You have to go to college and law school first. You have to make good grades to get into those schools. If you become a lawyer, you have to get involved in local politics. Local politicians allow certain lawyers to run for judge under their party designation.

It is a great idea to take courses in high school that let you explore the industry you are considering. You might also consider public speaking, joining speech and debate and student council.
