Hi DD M. So I am adding about 1000 more yeses to Valerie's awesome answer! :)

Business analytics, and more generally data analytics, is a field that continues to grow. In my opinion, this growth is due to the fact that more and more businesses are realizing the strong impact that good business analysts can have on growing a business. A good partner to strong business analytics is strong business analytics tools (of which there are many). For example spreadsheets are not that new...but...they have been enhanced in many ways to help business analysts see data trends and identify gaps. On the "new" spectrum, there are data tools like Tableau and programming tools like Python that allow for more in depth data and knowledge sharing that business analysts can and do use everyday to support business growth.

I hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!

Gloria’s Answer

HI DD,

Yes, Business Analytics is an important career for the future of business. If you do not know where you have been, you will not know where to go. It is also important to have quantifiable information to make decisions about the future. Even within my company, I am a part of a training organization. Data on what we have taught and how it improved KPI's is an important element of success in our organization.

Yes, yes, yes!
In my industry, Commercial Insurance, this is critical to analyze loss trends, understand drivers of profitability and how they are correlated. Starting your career in Analytics gives you an unique opportunity to know the portfolio of clients, the performance of the company. This opens many options for career development afterwards.
