How to become a NICU Rn

Hello I graduated in 2017 and I am finally at a place to go for a degree. I want to become a NICU RN. However I have no idea how to start, should I go for prerequisites 1st at a community college then apply to a nursing school? Can I go straight for a BSN after I complete my perquisites? Is they're an online accredited college that will transfer my prerequisites? I need help with the steps/specifics. I would be the only person to even go to college in my family, so I have no idea how to do this. #nursing #medicine #college #healthcare #NICU #nurse

https://www.registerednursing.org/specialty/nicu-nurse/ outlines that you'd need an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), but a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is most often required, and Registered nurse (RN) license. Some jobs will also require specialty certifications.

I'd start by looking at the requirements in job listing that you're interested in to understand if you need a BSN or not.

NICU nursing is a specialized nursing field. You should consider that you need to attend college and should look towards a Bachelor's degree in Nursing so that you can qualify as a registered Nurse. You should research colleges that offer BSN nursing degrees and look into the entrance requirements for their programs. If you have satisfied those requirements from high school, and the college(s) give you the location and environment that work for you then you should apply. Look for financial aid help as well.
If you don't yet meet the requirements, then attending a local community college to meet the entrance criteria for the college you want to attend is a good path.
