Jessica’s Answer

Hi Jessica,

While I am not a dermatologist, I did some research on how to become one. These are the steps I found:

1. Earn a bachelor's degree.
2. Pass the MCAT.
3. Go to medical school.
4. Pass the first two parts of the USMLE.
5. Complete a residency.
6. Pass the third part of the USMLE.
7. Get a license.
8. Become board certified.

This is the article I used: https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/how-to-become-a-dermatologist#:~:text=How%20to%20be%20a%20dermatologist%201%20Earn%20a,a%20license.%20...%208%20Become%20board%20certified.%20

Other careers I would suggest exploring are being a make up artist or esthetician.

Best of luck!

A.’s Answer

I am a medical student. A dermatologist has to go to medical school . They will go through:

4 years of college for an undergraduate degree
4 years of medical school
1 year of transitional year residency
3 years of dermatology residency

That is 12 years of education after high school. Dermatologists will go through all the examinations that all medical students must go through, such as the MCAT, Step1 , Step2, and Step3.
