Hi Malachi A. Thanks so much for your question.

One of the best ways to tackle career goals is to use your strengths. You have already shared what your strengths are like being a critical thinker (super biggie :)) and being concerned about your future. Use these two strengths to build your path towards your career goals. Building the steps along your career goal path will be critical, especially in those instances when life throws a curve ball and you get temporarily knocked off your path. By having your steps (better to have them written down in detail if you can), it can become a bit easier to get back on the path or even enhance your path.

Be proud enough of your plans and goals to share them with others that you trust. In my career, I have done this many times. When you share your plans/goals with others that you trust, you should expect them to come back to you to ask you "hey, how did that new step work out for you?" and/or "what's next on your path, now that you have completed that last step?" In other words, by sharing with others that you trust, you can have people, who support you, to hold you accountable for executing on your goals in a good and lasting way.

As for loving the color blue...awesome! :)

Best of luck to you!

RESHMI’s Answer

Hello Malachi,
these are some of the simple steps you can do attain career goals.
Step one: Set your macro goal
Make your big goal as specific as you can. A good specific career goal is “I want to become an art director”, as opposed to the more general “I want to work in the media”. Or “I want to work in software product management”, rather than “I want to work in IT”.
Step two: Set your micro goals
If you’re still at university, set goals such as:
Finish exams
Graduate
Write a CV
Send to 50 employers
Gain an interview
… And so on. These kinds of micro goals will help give each day a sense of purpose as you move towards your end goal, while helping to keep your motivation high as you check measurable micro goals off your list.
Step three: Make it attainable
Make sure that the goals you set are attainable, or else you’ll run the risk of demoralising yourself.
Step four: Make it realistic
Your goal has to be realistic given your time, knowledge and resources. If you can’t afford to keep studying, specialist training might need to be put on hold for a couple of years, and your knowledge and proficiency with software has to be good to understand how to make a software product better. Make sure your goals are realistic given your aptitude, skills, experience and finances.
Step five: Make your goals time-bound
It’s important to commit your goals to a timeframe so that you feel motivated to stay the course. You can run the risk of frittering time away if you have too much of it, or set yourself up for failure if you don’t allow yourself enough.

Wish you best of luck!
