Hello Gabriela,
In addition to the great advice above, you'll need strong communication skills - both verbal and written. You'll find that great listening skills will come in handy - many of the issues that are taken care of by HR involve being able to determine how an event unfolded, how to handle personnel problems and how to deal with difficult situations. There are usually multiple parties involved so good note taking and listening/probing skills are highly coveted.
Good luck,
Christina

Hi Gabriela -
The qualities companies look for in filling HR Internship positions would be foremost a high degree of confidentiality, attention to detail, ability to work both in teams and individually, excellent computer skills, and perhaps some type of prior customer service experience. There are many facets of HR and you could be exposed to all or perhaps a specialty such as compensation, benefits, employee relations, etc.
In writing you resume be sure to highlight experiences you have had that showcase your ability to learn quickly, adapt easily to change, and be successful building relationships.
Good-luck!

For our HR Intern, we typically look for someone that has some solid soft skills. Interpersonal communication, time management, problem solver, conflict management, etc. We know that most interns have limited "real world" experience, so we key in on skills, traits and abilities that demonstrate they are capable of handling issues, problems, challenges and direction with a degree of professionalism. Also, it is important that you can demonstrate your strengths in these areas. To do this, be ready to share stories and experiences from your life that align with these skills. In other words, if you have managed a full class schedule while working at a part time job, while also maintaining a social life, you probably have great time management skills and are a strong problem solver! Not to mention you have some experience in interpersonal communication and conflict resolution...who has ever fought with their close friend and had to talk through that and come to a mutually respectful conclusion? Hope this helps!
