After B.COM anyone can take an opportunity to enter either of these options.
1. CA which can yield private or public or organizational accountant roles. Every org has their official accountants to take care of financial and other stuffs.
2. UPSC - IRS (Internal Revenue Services) can yield Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
3. State level Revenue officers by writing relevant govt exams.

Hi Bhavleen,
Great Question!
I am a Chartered Accountant from India and I can relate to your journey.
If you want to change paths as you are pursuing CA, you can take up Law (LLB), CFA certification, CMA certification.
The other way to go about is to do your MBA after your B.Com and get experience in a field you like - this could be Marketing/Sales/Business etc.
Good luck!

I completed a B.Com in South Africa, and then went on to a single year of post graduate studies to prepare for the CA exams (Post Grad Diploma in Accounting which is offered in South Africa). I highly recommend the CA pathway as it will give many opportunities for work in both India, and abroad. My CA pathway took me on a route that included 4 years with one of the big accounting / audit firms in South Africa (PriceWaterhouse Coopers "PWC"), and then on to 10 years working in various roles in finance / banking London for 10 years, and then to a new role in the USA. I have found the CA qualification to be well recognized internationally, and a great foundation for a career in Finance / Banking. The 4 years at "PWC" were so informative, and gave fantastic work experience that I have used throughout my working career.
Good luck with your career path, and choices.

I believe an excellent career choice, given your background, would be to explore becoming a CPA. This is the American counterpart of CA. Numerous international companies are eager to hire talented individuals from India for outsourcing tasks. I personally benefited from a review course provider/coaching class that guided me through the essential details of the program. The CPA curriculum is more manageable compared to the extensive CA syllabus. Plus, you'll continue to work with accounting and taxes, which aligns with your interests, making it a fantastic opportunity!

Hi Bhavleen! I think with B.COM, you definitely have a bunch of options open. I would really encourage you to find an area of interest- investment management, banking, tech etc. and probably get certified with accredited courses in the same field. This would definitely provide some leverage when recruiting. Also, I would encourage you to explore consulting - either tech or management consulting. This can help you expand the breadth of knowledge since you'll be working on different projects across various industries, and later on you can decide which area/industry you want to become a SME in. Hope this helps!
