Search for an internships in a field you will find interesting and can talk about enthusiastically during an interview. As a high school student, before submitting your resume, include an classwork / project that my apply to a particular internship. . The resume / application will help you get an interview. During the interview remember to talk slow and clear. Smile and look at the person doing the interview regardless if they are in the same room with you or talking to you via a virtual interview. Also find a place you can actually get to - as a high school student, how far can you travel

Brayden’s Answer

Hello!

I think the best way to find internships is to spend sometime searching for ones that fit your interest and that you can have a connection to. Being in highschool you probably dont have much experience in the industry that you are wanting to work in so that can be a challenge. I would say though that the best thing you can do is to contact them and to keep calling and emailing them expressing your interests and commitment to wanting to work there. Many times a person might not have the experience or credentials but if they show that they are determined and willing to learn companies will take a chance on you because you came back a second or third time trying to work for them and showed commitment.

Hopefully that helps! Good luck!

Do some research on internships available for high school students. Think about what fields you may be interested in and reach out to people in the field to ask about available opportunities. Good luck!

Hi Lorna! It's awesome that you are already looking into finding an internship in High School! While it is more difficult to find internship opportunities as a high school student, it is definitely possible and will be incredibly valuable in learning more about what you're interested in. Because there are less advertised internship opportunities for high schoolers, I would suggest creating a list of industry areas you may be interested in. After that, I would recommend identifying specific companies in these industries and reaching out to them directly to see if they have any opportunities. This method may be especially effective if the company is smaller and local or if you know someone who works at the company. When you're in high school and just starting your career journey, any internship is helpful in understanding your interests so be open to different opportunities. Good luck!
