Marica’s Answer

Great question! In terms of customer service, I always try and return a call. Sometimes, we can really sit behind emails but there is something about picking up the phone, listening to what the client needs/wants and then finding them the help. While you may think you're shy, having professional conversations with peers can be very rewarding and as you gain experience you will likely find that you won't be too shy!

Travis’s Answer

Hi Dillion, this is a great question! One of the most important skills when it comes to customer service is active listening. When a customer is describing a problem or need, it is super critical to carefully listen to them, ask questions to clarify anything you don't understand, and even repeat back what they are asking to make sure you fully know what they need/want. That will help you find the right solution! Additionally, try to stay positive and calm when dealing with a customer. Even if a customer is upset, it's really important to keep an even tone of voice and remain calm and professional while interacting with them.
Thank you comment icon i appreciate it thank you that helps knowing what i need to do for the customers Dillion

Rose’s Answer

Customer services is all about finding the solution that best meets your customer's need. Be an active listener when your customer is expressing their concerns, fully understand the issue then provide different options to solve the problem. Be transparent and continue to engage the customer throughout the process. The best way to understand the customer issue is by putting yourself in their situation. Don't be restrained from rules, policies and guidelines. As long as you are doing everything you can ethically to solve the issue, you are doing the right thing for the customer.

James’s Answer

Hi Dillion!

I have worked for many years in customer service oriented jobs. I agree with the previous answer that Active Listening is critical to providing great service. When I first began working it was difficult because I was very shy. But I found that by empathizing with the customer's wants and needs I could understand the best way to help them. Asking good questions, and actively listening to them, will help you find out what you can do to make their experience great. It sounds like you enjoy helping people, and that is great motivation to do a good job in customer service.

Also, remember that you do not have to be perfect! Do not let one bad call ruin your day. Bad calls happen to the best of us. The best way to overcome that is to move on to the next one right away. You will have way more good calls than bad ones anyways.

Good luck!
