Rose’s Answer

The best thing about having a business/accounting degree and working in a back office function is that you can get into any industry that interests you. Government, nonprofit, technology, retail, medicine, B2B, etc. all need accountants. You also have the option of working in public accounting doing individual tax returns, auditing companies, and more. If you want to be an entrepreneur, a business background is a great foundation.

The down side is that some jobs are high pressure with long hours. You will also have to stay informed of changes in laws, regulations, and the current economy and developments in your industry.

Accounting/Business is a great field to work in if you are interested in those kind of roles. Starting salaries are quite decent and growth is only limited by one's own talent and capacity for hard work.
The downside is that it is not a very glamourous career and many people find it very boring. So, having a genuine interest in the field is very important.
